LPGA Tour's Lincicome enters men's tournament

Brittany Lincicome may play in a men's tournament next week as part of her plans for the LPGA Tour season.
The long-hitting Lincicome, a three-time winner on the LPGA Tour, has entered the NGA Hooters Tour's Bridgestone Winter Series event at Deer Island Golf Club.
Brittany could be the first current LPGA Tour golfer to play in a Winter Series tournament.
"(The LPGA Tour) finished in December, and I ought to keep playing to get ready for next season," Lincicome said Friday. "This will be my seventh year on the LPGA Tour and I still get nervous when I tee off (in the LPGA season-opening event) in Thailand. This tournament is close to home and has a lot of rivals in it. I think it's a great way for me to get some of the nerves out before our season starts."
Brittany Grace Lincicome (born September 19, 1985) is an American professional player playing on the LPGA Tour. She at present resides in Seminole, Florida.
Lincicome is one of the longest drivers in women's golf. In her fresh year, 2005, she led the LPGA in driving distance with an average of 270.3 yards (247.2 m). In 2006, her driving average increased to 278.6 yards (254.8 m), second among all LPGA players.

Golf and Your Kids

In case you think your kid could be the next Vijay Singh or that they have the predisposition for the game of golf, you need to learn how to best teach them the game without crowding their plate with development expectations. Also, learn that they are ready and ready to learn and how to find out if you child has what it takes to become a quality golfer in the world of golf.
Golf is an extremely thorough sport, and even those who are naturals at the sport must spend years and years exercising before they head to the professional circuit. As of this, the earlier you start your child learning the match, the better chance you have of developing an enthusiastic golfer. Once a child is walking well independently and able to hold a child-sized golf club, he or she is perhaps ready for the first introduction to the sport.
This can happen when the kid is as young as two or three years old. Preschool children will not be able to play golf as a match, but they can be given small putters and practice swinging the golf club correctly. Children at this age learn nearly everything through imitation. The best way to coach them proper swinging and putting techniques is to demonstrate, and then have them imitate the motions. But use caution that you do not make this tedious for the child. These imitation sessions might be short and fun. Try having the child hit a small balloon. Not only will this be fun, but the child will also have success in hitting the balloon, which will keep the frustration at bay.
The driving range is a good place to start since there is not a specific target they must reach, so the child is less likely to get disappointed. After the child demonstrates talent on the driving range, you can head to the course. By this point you should be able to tell whether or not your child is going to share your love for the match of golf. The most important issue to remember is that not all children like the same things that parents like. Do not push your child into the game of golf if it is not their thing as they will resent you forever for doing so. Instead, give them experience and chance and allow them to reach their own conclusions about golf and any other chance that you present in their path.

Recommendations for Playing Golf in the Rain

Playing golf in the rain may be inevitable especially during golf competitions and other golfing events in case the situation demands players to finish their game. For golfers to do well when playing golf in the rain, they ought to come prepared.
The first thing golf players need to do is to ensure that they are wearing the right golf rain gear so as not to get wet.
A waterproof suit, waterproof shoes, hats, umbrella, rain hood and gloves are some of the necessary equipment golfers need. Keeping dry is important because it helps the player keep his focus on the game and not on changing his wet clothes and getting a hot shower after the game. The golfers gear should also be covered properly so will stay dry and will perform well during the entire game or tournament.
To make sure that one plays well even under the rain, the player should manage the game and not be forced to hurry his hits. He should stay calm and should find out how the rain affects his game. The golf ball and the club will behave differently for water and wind from the rain will affect their movement. The player should take his time to wipe off his club and make certain to swing through to a full finish. The golf course will also behave differently when players stand on it and golf balls will bounce differently on the field.
The players overall status during a game will also make a big difference. Simply forcing a smile and keeping a positive attitude when playing will definitely affect ones ability to play golf.

Useful Golf Travel Tips

How Much Will The Trip Cost
Throughout the U.S. and around the world you'll find golf destinations and restaurant with golf courses which offer 'stay & play' golf packages. And, in increasing numbers, normal resorts are cooperating with area courses to offer economical 'stay & play' packages also. Golf packages could save you money with less costly rates for 'a room plus greens fees' than you would pay if you acquired these services separately. But some packages feature special terms such as particular arrival/departure dates, quoted rates may be per person or for two or more, etc., so check the details carefully.
Who Will Join Your Group
Will your group be golfers only, golfers and non-golfers, family, or are you a 'single' golfer? And what about skill levels? Where you go, where you stay, and where you play can make a big distinction as to if your trip is a 'hole-in-one' or a 'bogey'.
What Type of Travel
Regardless of what kind of vacation you and your companion(s) want to take, whether it's to a bustling city, rustic mountain area, busy beach resort, a town steeped in colonial history, a quiet countryside or a combination of these, there are numerous terrific golf resorts available and in all price ranges. If you'll be accompanied by non-golfers, you'll need to make certain there are things for them to do when you're on the course.
Getting Information On Destinations of Interest
You can start your search right here! Check out the 'stay & play' golf packages available through the travel businesses in this part. Check out the courses available - are they right for your game? Do you require other activities? Many resorts are solely golf-oriented, and couldn't help the non-golfers in your party if they were the Queen and her Royal Consort. And compare costs and offerings. Together with internet, information is available through state and area golf associations, Chambers of Commerce, Convention Bureaus, printed and web travel tips and travel agencies. You may also do well to check out the business or property itself with the state's consumer protection agency and/or Better Business Bureau.

Srixon’s Yellow Z-Star Tour Golf Ball

Yellow golf balls are balls you hit at your local driving range or low quality golf balls. No self-respecting golfer would ever use a yellow golf ball on the golf course. Right?
That's exactly all about to change with the new model of the popular Srixon Z-STAR Tour Yellow golf balls. Yep, that’s right a tour caliber premium yellow golf ball!
At the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show, Srixon quietly released the Z-STAR and Z-STARx Tour Yellow golf balls and I have to say I was quite skeptical about why anyone would want to play a yellow golf ball.
Yellow Ball?
Have you ever attempted to track a golf ball on a clear and sunny day? Even if with sunglasses on, you can easily lose the golf ball in the air.
To address this problem, Srixon did lots of testing backed by scientific data that has proven, that yellow is the most visible color in the visual spectrum and psychology has correlated green with calming and stress relief. Take the two findings and you have the Srixon Z-STAR and Z-STARx Tour Yellow golf balls.
Tour Yellow is a unique mixture of yellow and green to formulate the next generations of tour golf balls. The Tour Yellow balls will be played by some of Cleveland Golf Tour Staff like Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk. It will be interesting to see what the reaction will be on Tour by fellow rivals and the fans.
Z-STAR
The Z-STAR is a high-performance multilayered ball with low compression and really soft feel. This is the softer of the two Z-STAR balls which is great around the greens and distance control with your golf putter. The only thing different is the color!
The Z-STAR Tour Yellow may turn heads on the driving range and make it easier to find the golf ball, but I’m curious to see if it will make me more relaxed?
I’m willing to try the Srixon Z-STAR Tour Yellow. Are you?

TaylorMade's white R11 driver will be noticed in a crowd

After the great success of the r7 and R9 drivers, the launch of TaylorMade's third generation R11 adjustable driver was sure to bring about a buzz in the equipment world.
But even before the professionals at Kapalua start tinkering with TaylorMade's newest design, they'll discover the glaringly obvious thing that sets it apart. It's white.

Gossips have been swirling over the past few months that TaylorMade was preparing to launch a white driver, but many of those rumors failed to point out the R11s new level of customization. In previous models, TaylorMades torque wrench was used to adjust the face angle, which automatically changed the club's loft as well. In the R11, loft and face angle are adjusted separately.
In the r7 and R9, an aluminum sleeve attached to the shaft, which screwed into the head in a variety of face angles. Not anymore. Now the R11's sleeve has eight settings to increase or decrease the effective loft by as much as one degree.
Face angle is controlled by an adjustable aluminum sole plate. By moving the red triangular plate into the closed, neutral or open location, you can change the look at address. The face settings range from 4 degrees open to 4 degrees closed.
Just like the r7 and R9 drivers, the R11 features weight portsone in the heel and one in the toethat enable a draw or fade bias. The R11 includes a10-gram screw and a 1-gram screw. Placing the 10-gram weight in the heel provides a draw, while putting it in the toe promotes a fade. Based on TaylorMade, the moveable weights offer up to 25 yards of right-and-left adjustability.
For the club is so adjustable, the R11 driver will be available in only two lofts 9 and 10.5. Olsavsky says that's all the loft options that are required, even for Tour pros.
To make his point, Olsavsky says you could theoretically set a 9 R11 to have an open face at address, a draw weight bias and an effective loft of 10 degrees. The same club set could be adjusted to have a closed-face at address, a fade bias and 8 of playing loft.
Additionally all that adjustability, Olsavsky says the R11's head shape is more aerodynamic, making it at least 6 yards longer than 2010's R9 SuperTri.
The standard R11 driver will come with a 45.75" Fujikura Blur shaft and retail for $399. A TP version of the club will feature an identical head and several shaft upgrades for $499. Both drivers should arrive in pro shops in mid-February.

Top Two Stories to enjoy this year

We take a look at five of the biggest stories the golfing world will be watching unfold in 2011.
Martin Kaymer
The 26-year-old from Germany more than reported his presence on the world stage in 2010. His first major success came at the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, he was part of a successful Ryder Cup for Europe, another big success came at the Dunhill Links at St. Andrews, and to top it all off he claimed the Race to Dubai money list title.
The difficult task for Kaymer now will be building on this remarkable success, though on present form it will be a challenge he will be more than equal to. At this point, he will also be a key player in the race for the world No. 1 ranking, which is set to well and truly resume in the new year.
Kaymer isn't allowing himself to get too carried away yet, though. Other than wanting another successful year in Europe, the only goal for 2011 he's allowed himself to elaborate on is his desire to finally card a hole-in-one.
Graeme McDowell
Like Kaymer, 2010 is a year that Graeme McDowell won't soon forget. The 31-year-old from Northern Ireland established his first major championship, the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, back in July. It was the first time in 40 years that a European golf player had managed this feat.
Just like that wasn't enough of an victory, less than three months later Mcdowell was enjoying another moment he will remember for the rest of his life, clinching the Ryder Cup win for Europe in remarkable fashion against Hunter Mahan.
These days, McDowell piped Tiger Woods to the post at the Chevron World Challenge, holing long putts at the 72nd and first play-off holes. A win for Woods would have meant the world to the former World No.1, and added some shine to an otherwise horror year, but McDowell clearly hadn't read the program.
McDowell was awarded an MBE in recognition of his fantastic accomplishments in 2010, which also included two more wins on the European Tour in June and October.
